Farizon commercial vehicles from Volvo parent company Geely will soon be in Australian showrooms with an electric alternative to the Toyota HiAce.
The Geely-owned Farizon brand of commercial vehicles will be on sale in Australia in the first half of 2025, with three models initially in local showrooms led by an electric Toyota HiAce rival and a large truck.
Formed in 2016, Farizon is the commercial arm of Chinese car giant Geely – owner of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus as well as a stakeholder in Mercedes-Benz and the recently revitalised Smart marque.
A range of Geely-branded vehicles has also been confirmed for launch in Australia in the first half of 2025, led by the Geely EX5 electric SUV aimed at the best-selling Tesla Model Y.
Whereas the Geely passenger vehicles will be sold under a factory-backed operation, the commercial vehicles from Farizon will be marketed by an independent distributor, Jameel Motors.
According to a company statement, the first vehicles to arrive in Australia will be the Farizon SV Cargo van and the H9E battery-electric truck offered in 4.5-tonne and 8.0-tonne versions.
Already confirmed to go on sale in the UK by mid-2025, the Geely Farizon SV (for ‘Super Van’) Cargo is a battery-electric van aimed at the Ford E-Transit Custom and LDV eDeliver 7.
The SV Cargo is built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform claiming a ‘first ever dual redundancy drive-by-wire throttle’.
Range is up to a claimed 558km WLTP, with three different batteries offered from 68kWh to 106kWh.
Australian Government approval documents list an array of combinations ranging from 4990mm to 5995mm long, 1980mm wide, 1980mm to 2500mm tall, and 3100mm to 3850mm in wheelbase.
The gross vehicle mass across the range is 3500kg, while all models use a 170kW front electric motor, and lack a ‘B-pillar’ behind the front passenger-side door for easier load area access.
The SV Cargo achieved the top ‘Platinum’ Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) rating when its safety features were tested in December 2024.
Farizon has partnered with Saudi Arabia-based Jameel Motors for distribution in both the UK and Australia.
Jameel Motors was formed in 1945 and started out selling automotive spare parts before distributing Toyota LandCruisers to the Saudi Arabian market in the 1950s.
The SV Cargo will be joined by the H9E battery-electric truck, available in 4.5-tonne and 8.0-tonne configurations.
