We know there are going to be a bunch of people out there who lose their minds when they see this El Camino, and we understand. That was my first reaction too. I saw the thumbnail for this video and thought that Tommy had lost his mind, because I have friends with El Caminos like this that aren’t nearly as nice as this one. And they drive theirs! Okay, they drive them as winter beaters, but still. Okay, not still. Yes, this car is a good donor vehicle.

Saying it out loud helps. But it still hurts a little too. Check it out.

Video Description:

I’m a BIG FAN of donor cars. A running, driving car gives you a drive train that’s proven to work, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with this big block El Camino. These things aren’t worth a whole lot, and this example has some serious body rust, especially in the roof. I heard the car run when I bought it, but by the time it was home, this car had zero juice, due to a wiring issue. I hot wired the ignition and put a push button on the starter so we could test drive it and make sure it was going to be a good donor vehicle for our special upcoming project.

After a test drive and burnout, we pulled it back into the driveway for a good cleanup inside and out. Somebody spent a lot of money on this car, for it to ultimately be parked due to a wiring issue. We bought it with no title or paperwork, strictly as a donor vehicle. The big block seems super healthy, so it should make for a great hot rod combination with a few upgrades. Stay tuned for information on the project car this engine will be used in. You’re gonna love it!
