Temperature Control: Why it matters – Top Entrepreneurs Podcast

Temperature Control: Why it matters – Top Entrepreneurs Podcast

Posted on December 24, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on Temperature Control: Why it matters – Top Entrepreneurs Podcast

Temperature control is vital for a number of reasons, including:

Maintaining a steady body temperature

The right temperature optimises bodily functions and metabolic processes. The ideal figure is 37°C, while extreme temperatures clearly pose a severe risk to human health.

So in settings such as hospitals, for example, temperature control is a key element of comfort and safety. These organisations need to have effective heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and temperature sensors to keep things consistently comfortable.

Food safety

Harmful food bacteria thrive without adequate temperature control, making food unsafe for human consumption. Getting this aspect right will also mean food remains fresh for longer, minimising waste.

Industrial production

Temperatures need to be monitored at every point of production to help avoid expensive errors. This element needs attention from the raw materials stage through logistics and will affect the quality of the final product.

Tools to help with temperature control

The good news is that there are several tools which can help with temperature control. And you may find hiring this equipment easier than purchasing it outright, for the following reasons:

  • It’s cost-effective
  • You only pay for the equipment you need and may well also save on storage costs
  • You’ll have access to the latest, fully compliant and sustainable models, along with training in its safe use
  • With plenty of choice, you can rent what best suits your needs

There are two pieces of equipment which can make a significant difference when it comes to temperature control:

**1.)** **Industrial chiller**

An industrial chiller is a refrigeration solution which takes heat away from equipment, spaces and fluid to keep temperatures optimal. A number of different sectors use these machines at the heart of their cooling operations, including food and drinks, manufacturing, plastics and pharmaceuticals firms.

The system uses a liquid coolant which changes from a liquid to a gas on heating. Heat is removed and diverted elsewhere.

The benefits of chiller hire, which should work well as a solution, for all the reasons listed above, include improved productivity, precision of temperature control, fewer energy costs, reduced accident risk, better product quality – and you extend the life of your other equipment at the same time.

**2.)** **Water filter and chiller**

Drinking water helps keep body temperature constant in a number of ways. It maintains blood volume, flow and circulation, and limits changes in temperature in hot and cold environments. At the same time, when you become overheated and lose water through sweat, you need to replace it to avoid your body temperature increasing.

Equally, dehydration can lower your ability to handle heat strain. So, if you’re sweating, you need to take on more water than you would normally.

If space is limited and a floor-standing table-top water dispenser isn’t practical in a small office or home kitchen, a water filter and chiller could be the answer, linked up to your existing drinkable water supply and a power point. It means you won’t have water bottles taking up valuable fridge space, plus this under-sink solution also means you have clutter-free worktops – not to mention deliciously chilled, filtered water on demand.

Again, hiring a unit like this could be ideal, and will mean you have the back-up of full service and maintenance as needed. The UK is experiencing more intense and frequent heatwaves, with, according to the LSE, climate scientists finding that the 40°C temperatures recorded in 2022 were made 10 times more likely by climate change. And the Met Office has forecast that these figures could become average for summer by 2035.

So adequate supplies of cool drinking water have never been more important, both for you at home and for any staff who work for you.
