CHEAP, JUNKYARD TURBO LS POWER. HOW MUCH POWER IS A TURBO WORTH ON A JUNKYARD 4.8L, 5.3L OR 6.0L LS?
Turbo LS power baby. Whether you’ve got a 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0, that junkyard LS engine is just begging for boost and will make real power with even the smallest amount. What’s interesting about turbo combos is that many people don’t seem to realize that the turbo determines the amount of power possible. It doesn’t actually matter how big the engine is. What matters is whether or not the engine can do two things. One, flow enough air to take full advantage the airflow the turbo can provide, and two, be able to support that power level mechanically. In other words, if the engine can stand up to the power level and the cylinder head will keep up with the airflow, it will make the power.
With that said, if you aren’t maxing out the turbo then for a given flow, the more power the NA engine makes the more power it will make at a given boost and flow number.
