Diary of a T6 S80 (the1thinker’s thread) | SwedeSpeed

Hey all!

Thought I would introduce my self and my newish ride, my name is Danny and I recently purchased a 2013 S80 T6 with the Platinum trimmings. It was purchased from auction.
A little about me is that my family and I are very mechanically inclined and are gear heads. We do all maintenance our selves to all our cars. We only own all SAABs and one Honda Odyssey. I am now the black sheep bringing home a Volvo! My first Volvo was a 2010 S80 3.2 with 172K miles. It drove amazing after I fixed all the sway bar end links and transmission fluid. I then sold it to upgrade to a V8, tho they were tough to find at a reasonable price for a 2010. That when I came across this T6 at an auction. Its a 2013, so it had the shifter I wanted already and looked in excellent condition forth pictures. So for the first time, I bought a car sight unseen! And I have been very happy with my purchase to far. The T6 power BLOWS away the 3.2, I was shocked. Very curious as well to see how the AWD does this winter too. That being said, with my Volvos, I like them to be perfect, so I tend to get a little OCD with maintenance.

In the recent couple months of owning the T6, I have found a few problems with her and have done a far amount of maintenance to her too.

Here I will list what I have found wrong:

  • Exhaust manifold leak (only issue is loud ticking when cold and under acceleration)
  • Rear defrost does not work
  • Drivers side heat blows ambient temp air
  • Front suspension clunks at low speed
  • Rear suspension is starting to make small clucking sounds.
  • Bluetooth sometimes cuts out randomly when first paired.
  • Under hard acceleration, there is a rattle of sorts from the bottom of the car (hopefully not the bevel gear)
  • Prob some other stuff I can’t think of right now…

Since my few months of ownership, I have done this work to the car:

  • Liquid Moli engine oil flush (not sure how people feel about that yet)
  • Liquid Moli Cera-Te (also a hot topic)
  • Transmission Flush (drain and fill x2 with Aisin fluid)
  • Rear diff fluid drained and filled
  • Haldex fluid changed and pump cleaned
  • 2015.5 Mirror install (one of my favorite mods for this car)
  • Dash cam hardwired (city life )
  • PCV diaphragm replaced
  • LED parking lights and fog lights (big difference in looks imo)
  • Front sway bar end links replaced.

The big ticket items that I would to work on and address are the exhaust manifold and the drivers side heat.

First Question: has anyone changed the exhaust manifold on these? How feasible is this job?

Second Question: Has anyone gained access to the drivers side heat blend door? ViDa makes this job look not fun… (Code CCM – B10884A LIN Bus B System Intemal Failures Incorrect component installed Permanent fault)

I plan to use this thread to start documenting my journey and answering questions on work that I have done so far. So please dont hesitate to give input and ask away! Hopefully more knowledgeable people will also see this thread too.

This car awesome to drive and I am a very proud to own a true executive saloon!

-Danny
