2025 Ford Bronco Sport vs. 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Comparison

2025 Ford Bronco Sport vs. 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Comparison

Posted on December 9, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on 2025 Ford Bronco Sport vs. 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Comparison

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport and the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer both pack a big visual punch. The Bronco Sport has more of a vintage SUV shape that pays homage to its larger Bronco SUV sibling. New for this model year is the Sasquatch package for the two top trims, which enhances the Bronco Sport’s off-road prowess with increased ground clearance, specialized rear shocks, and much more.

The Chevy Trailblazer received a rather extensive mid-cycle update last year; consequently, it enters 2025 basically untouched. However, it has a more racy look than the boxy shape of the Bronco Sport, though both are snazzy.

How do these two SUVs compare when faced against each other? Keep reading to find out more.

2025 Ford Bronco Sport

The 2025 Bronco Sport comes in five trims and starts at $31,590, including the factory-to-dealer delivery charge. The base powertrain is an 181-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic. Optional is a 250-hp turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Good news: All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard with either engine.

Ford Bronco Sport Highlights

Punchy turbo 4-cylinder: That zesty 250-hp turbo 4-cylinder is limited to the range-topping Badlands. Starting around $42,000, it also includes underbody skid plates, off-road suspension settings, all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, and a front-facing camera to maneuver around potential unseen obstacles.

Classic SUV shape: It’s very 1970s, but we’re fans of the fun-loving Free Wheeling model. You won’t lose it in a parking lot thanks to its red/orange/and yellow exterior stripes, plus alloy wheels with red accents. Also offered is the Heritage trim, which comes with a white roof, white grille, and white-painted wheels. And for the record, the square shape of the Bronco Sport also happens to pay off in terms of this SUV’s copious headroom.

Load up with extras: The Ford Bronco Sport is highly customizable with a raft of Ford-engineered goodies. Mud flaps, heavy-duty roof racks, interior bike mounts, and a collapsible kennel for furry pals are all available. Available for its two top trims is the new Sasquatch off-roading package with additional ground clearance, a dual-clutch torque vectoring rear drive unit, specialized rear shocks, all-terrain rubber, skid plates, and more.

2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Chevrolet offers the Trailblazer in four trims: LS, LT, Activ, and RS. A major attraction is its contemporary styling and a varied color palette, including the fun Cacti Green. As you move through the trim levels, the looks change a bit with the top two trims qualifying for a contrasting-color roof.

Performing duty as the base powertrain is a 137-hp turbocharged 1.2-liter 3-cylinder paired with an economy-minded continuously variable automatic transmission. A 155-hp turbo 1.3-liter 3-cylinder is optional, and of the two, it’s the only one that offers a choice of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive. With a starting price of $24,395 (including destination fees), it’s considerably more affordable than the Ford Bronco Sport.

Chevrolet Trailblazer Highlights

Chevrolet Safety Assist: This suite of standard safety items includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator.

Easy-to-use infotainment system: The recent refresh significantly elevated the dashboard and its layout. An 11-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8-inch digital instrument display are now standard. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and two USB ports.

Adventurous Activ model: Fans of the outdoors—at least those who like to drive up and over it—will gravitate towards the Activ model. This off-road-themed variant has a stouter suspension, underbody skid plates, and 17-inch black alloy wheels with Sport Terrain tires. It strikes us as a little curious that all-wheel drive isn’t standard—set aside about $1,600 if you want it.

Similarities

The extroverted Ford Bronco Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer both have entertaining personalities and memorable designs. They’re also good on gas and have adult-friendly rear seats and a generous amount of storage space.

Conclusion

A significant factor here could be the price difference between the Ford Bronco Sport and Chevy Trailblazer. Even the fanciest of Chevy’s trims is a thousand dollars less than Ford’s base price.

On the other hand, the Ford Bronco Sport has standard all-wheel drive and higher-performance engines. Furthermore, it feels less built-to-a-budget, and we love the retro-themed versions. Finally, it’s unquestionably the more capable off-roader. The Ford is worth the extra coin if your budget allows it, but the Chevy is the value choice that doesn’t really feel like a value choice.
