The plug-in hybrid SUV made in collaboration with US designer brand Kith is limited to 47 examples worldwide, with one unit coming to Australia.

A limited edition 2025 BMW XM designed by US designer brand Kith is coming to Australia.

The plug-in hybrid SUV is limited to 47 production examples, with only one unit coming to the domestic market but is already reserved for a local customer.

According to the brand’s US website, the luxury SUV is priced from $US199,000 ($AU311,655) before on-road costs and is available for pre-order now, with deliveries expected to start in the second half of 2025.

The 2025 BMW XM by Kith is powered by a 4.4-litre M TwinPower V8 engine coupled with an electric motor, with a maximum output of 550kW/1000Nm.

BMW claims the SUV can reach 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds.

Cosmetically, the limited-edition PHEV SUV is finished in a ‘Frozen Techno Violet’ metallic colour and is said to be derived from historic BMW models, while Kith branding alongside the blue and red M sport stripes can be seen on the car’s side panels and under its headlights.

According to the German luxury car maker, this specific paint finish was developed and used by Ronnie Fieg – Kith’s founder – on the XM as well as his own 1981 BMW M1 E26 and will not be used in the future.

Alternatively, customers also have the option of a Frozen Black metallic paint finish.

Inside, Kith logos can be seen on the embossed leather seats, the velour floor mats, the centre console and the control display.

To fill out the wheel arches, 23-inch M alloy wheels in a jet-black finish come as standard on the 2025 BMW XM.

BMW unveiled the limited-edition SUV alongside its M1 predecessor at the 2024 Art Basel Miami in December 2024.

While the XM SUV is vastly different from its two-door sports coupé M1 ancestor in shape and size, BMW said the two “share a common heritage because they are models that were designed, developed and built from a high-performance perspective”.

The 2025 BMW XM marks the third collaboration between the German car maker and Kith, with Fieg previously designing a BMW M4 Competition Coupé in 2020 followed by another Kith-branded BMW i40 M50 xDrive in 2022.

“In each of these chapters, bridging the past and present of BMW M serves as the foundation for the narrative,” Fieg said in a media statement.

“This year, the story spans the full timeline of BMW M, starting with the brand-first ever creation – the M1.

“While the M1 marks the beginning of BMW M’s timeline, the XM represents the latest version of it.

“Although structurally they may seem worlds apart, they share a unique legacy – both are the only two BMW M-exclusive models… bridging that gap for people to understand their significance to BMW M was my inspiration for our third chapter,” Fieg added.
