Continental tire issues? | SwedeSpeed

Hi all,
just got back from a road trip on which my back right tire just popped at 70MPH on the highway.
After calling around for 20min in the middle of nowhere and no one being able to help us because either it was too late or they didn’t have the tire size, we luckily found out that we were only 5 miles away from a TireRack distribution center that happened to have the exact tire match and they stayed passed 6pm on a weekend day
to mount the new tire for us (customer for life now :) ). I just had to install it myself. All that being said…has anyone else had issues with the Continental CROSSCONTACT LX SPORT tires?
They were basically brand new only 3k miles on MY17 XC90. There was nothing in the road as far as I know and the TMPS system had given no indication of any leaks prior.
We had been driving for 4 hours south prior to the blow out. So it was hot…like 100 degrees outside temp and pretty long high speeds but I’ve never had this happen to me before with any other tire.
I couldn’t really inspect it too well on the side of the highway trying to change to the donut asap before being run over by trucks passing at 70MPH and having all our belongings spilled across all lanes, but the inside wall looked like it was heat warped with bubbles.
Unfortunately I also forgot to tell the TireRack center to check if there was any puncture/object in it since they were wanting to close and we wanted to get back on the road with the two little ones.

Just wanted to see if others had any issues with the tired or if this was just one bad apple hopefully.

On a side note Volvo on Call is useless as they will just send someone out within 60 minutes to install the little spare donut wheel. So you sit on the highway unsafely for an hour for someone to show up to just change to your worthless spare that you can’t drive with. The little safety donut wheel is absolutely useless. Doing a max of 50MPH on a highway is suicide and being stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere you can’t easily and readily find tires that large to safely continue on your journey.

Has anyone figured out how to put a full size spare in the bottom trunk compartment? I’ve measured but it seems like there is just not enough room even if you take the cardboard dividers etc. out. I’d really like to have the assurance on the next road trip that I can just change to a full size and continue on with my journey.

Also don’t get me started with that widow maker of a carjack. Jesus…I mean all manufactures temp tire changing kits have bad jacks but this one takes the cake.
Sorry a lot of ranting but thanks for reading and any possible feedback!
