RENO, Nevada – Entries are now open for the 2025 Hot August Nights Foundation’s Youth Automotive Challenge, taking place in August 2025 during the main Hot August Nights event in Reno-Sparks, Nevada. The Youth Automotive Challenge is a team-oriented competition where youth participants stand to win more than $10,000 in scholarships and prizes, plus access to industry professionals and more.

During the August 2024 main event, the Hot August Nights Foundation completed the inaugural Youth Automotive Challenge with eight participating teams vying for scholarship dollars and a coveted trophy. Coming out on top and claiming $5,000 was Low Not Slow with their rebuild of a 427 big block Chevy engine. The runner up was EVC Auto securing $3,000 and the second runner up was Nevada Electric Racing receiving $2,000 in scholarships.

The 2025 competition heats up starting now, with free registration available online at HotAugustNights.net. Any team of up to four young adults ages 16 to 21 can submit their project to compete in this ultimate automotive challenge, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025. Any car-related project is viable, from rebuilds to paint and everything in between.

“Hot August Nights has always been more than just about the cars, it’s also about giving back to our car community,” Deny Dotson, executive director for Hot August Nights, said. “This is our way of involving the next generation of car lovers and giving them a platform and a little help to push their passion for cars one step further.”

Projects can be assembled at the venue or provide documentation, including video & photography documenting the project from start to finish. Projects are judged based on design, functionality, creativity, originality, and presentation. Demonstrations and judging take place Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at the J Resort Glow Plaza in Downtown Reno. The event includes demonstrations and guest speakers from industry leaders.

All interested young adults are encouraged to apply at www.hotaugustnights.net/youth-automotive-challenge/. The deadline to apply is July 1, 2025.

The Youth Automotive Challenge is sponsored by the Hot August Nights Foundation, Adam’s Polishes, Big Daddy’s Motor Cars, Summit Racing Equipment, and Women with Wheelz.
