Enthusiasts across the nation no doubt are shedding tears of sympathy after seeing the smashed rear end of this once-beautiful maroon 1966 Corvette coupe.
According to Hawthorne, New Jersey authorities, the owner of the car had apparently just finished washing his classic Sting Ray early Monday afternoon when he accidentally backed it at a high rate of speed into a house located on Franklin Avenue. They based that theory on the wet tire tread marks and cleaning supplies on a driveway directly across the street from the accident scene.
Hawthorne Fire Department firefighters can be seen shoring up a post to stabilize the damaged front porch good enough so that a tow truck operator could carefully remove the Corvette.
The driver was left with non-life-threatening injuries to his face, but we’re sure he was more devastated by the severe damage done to his pride and joy, which appears to be a mild resto-mod with customized side pipes and no front or rear bumpers.
Now it just looks like a big monster took a chomp out of the whole back end of the car, definitely not the outcome he expected when he was washing it a few minutes earlier.
