“Original” is a word that comes up quite often when talking about this Rally Red 1965 Corvette convertible being offered for $56,000 on Craigslist out of Grants Pass, Oregon.

“This car runs and drives perfectly,” the seller says in the listing. “You will not find a better representation of an original maintained car that is a survivor that has not been restomodded or completely restored.”

One of 15,378 convertible Sting Rays produced in 1965, this car has the original 327 engine, and based on the stamp on the block, it’s the 350-horsepower version mated with a four-speed manual transmission, one of the more powerful powerplants offered that year. Furthermore, the seller says the drivetrain has undergone a complete overhaul, including the engine, transmission, rear end, and power steering.

The ’65 marked the debut of four-wheel disc brakes on the Corvette (though a $64.50 credit could be issued if you preferred drums instead), and a power antenna was also standard.

The car also retains its original red paint, though it’s hard to tell its exact condition based on the limited number of photos. It’s worth noting that a matching hardtop is included with the deal, a $236.50 option that creates a side profile we really love.

Likewise, the original optional black leather seats (an $80.70 extra back in the day) and teakwood steering wheel (another $48.45) are still inside the car, though the condition of those seats isn’t exactly clear in the tightly cropped photo.

All the lights work, according to the seller, and the hidden headlights open and close perfectly.

In an update to the original listing, the seller also says he has a new NCR correct radiator and period-correct carburetor in a box.

While the asking price is $56,000, the owner does point out that he’s open to cash plus trades.
