The paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024, co-sponsored by Carro, will be the event for car buyers. From October 26-27, you’ll be faced with irresistible deals at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), so make sure you mark your calendars.
Welcome to the default ‘starter car’ in Malaysia, but it’s far from basic. Priced from RM38,600, the second-gen Perodua Axia truly moved the budget benchmark when it was launched in early 2023, featuring the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and a D-CVT that contributes to a fantastic fuel economy of 27.4 km/l (with Eco Idle) on the Malaysian Driving Cycle.
Looks-wise, it’s galaxies away from the old Axia – strategically-placed swage lines along the sides give it a tauter look, while its front and rear treatments are trendy and up-to-date. It’s larger than the old car too – giving you more space inside – but remains compact, so manoeuvring it around tight city streets and parking continue to be a doddle.
The list of available equipment on the range-topping AV can put quite a few pricier cars to shame – there’s auto high beam, a seven-inch digital instrument panel, a nine-inch touchscreen, Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 3.0 including AEB, lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and six airbags. Value for money? You bet.
ACE 2024 will also host Toyota, Proton, Ford, BYD, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi and MG, together with Pro-Net‘s smart and eMas brands.
There will also be BMW/MINI (via Auto Bavaria), Mercedes-Benz (through Hap Seng Star) and Volvo (represented by Sime Darby Swedish Auto). Multi-brand dealership EON will represent smart and Audi while Cycle & Carriage will bring the Peugeot and Leapmotor brands. You’ll also see two-wheelers from BMW Motorrad and the Exosystem range of products from Trapo.
