Bristol Street Motors Hartlepool Ford signed up to support the inaugural UChangeLives Charity Golf Day, held at Seaton Carew Golf Club on Tees Road, to raise funds for both The PFC Trust and the North East Stem Foundation.

Bristol Street Motors Hartlepool Ford sponsored a special BBQ and offered a 74-Reg Ford Puma to anyone who was able to hit a hole-in-one on the sixth hole.

Alan Smith, Branch Manager at Bristol Street Motors Hartlepool Ford, said: “It was fantastic to be part of such a well-run event that had raised a huge amount of money for two very worthy causes within the local area.

“Although the team I was part of just missed out on finishing in the top five, it was a really memorable experience and one I’m pleased we had the opportunity to get involved with.”

Over £40,000 was raised to be shared equally between the PFC Trust and the North East STEM Foundation.

The PFC Trust focuses on helping different community groups to realise their true potential.

The North East Stem Foundation seeks to break down barriers in the region to provide young people from all backgrounds with the opportunity to access STEM education.

Frances Connolly, PFC Trust Founder, said: “The support we’ve received from volunteers, participants and local businesses – including Bristol Street Motors – has been overwhelming.

“This event is a reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared goal of making a positive impact.”

Tania Cooper, Chair of the North East STEM Foundation, said: “The funds raised will make a tangible difference to the lives of young people here in the North East.

“Encouraging more young people to engage in STEM education is vital for the future of our region, and we’re excited to use these funds to provide opportunities that can open doors and change lives.”

A number of grants are available through UChangeLives, including an Early Years Fund, Athlete Grants, and a new Rare Dementia Fund created to support individuals and their families in memory of local resident Lesley Connor.
