I have been wanting to take my rear seats out for a while, as I usually am the only one in the car, and have no use for them. Might as well shed some weight! However, I did not see a thread on here about how to remove them, so I thought I would write one up. Thanks to @Adamyeti for all of the assistance, he pretty much gave me all of the instructions needed.
Tools:
10mm Socket wrench
13mm Socket wrench
15mm Socket wrench
Thats it!
Okay, first thing that needs to be taken out is the seat bottom. There are four covers on the front of the seat bottoms, and underneath are four 10mm bolts, take those out.
Once those are taken out, the whole seat bottom should be able to lift up and out of the car. Next you should take a minute to admire the fact that you have now discovered a large bunch of crumbs left underneath the seat by the previous owner.
Next step is to remove the side padding pieces, shown here. Pull them outwards towards the front of the car to remove the clip, then lift the piece up.
Once both sides are removed, it should look like this underneath.
Now take your 13mm socket and unbolt the bolt holding the swiveling bracket, and rotate it up.
This is the semi-hard part. There is a black knob with an allen key end to it, that needs to be rotated outwards in order to get the seat backs off of the rail. I am not sure what size allen key to use, however I used my hands to loosen the knob, enough to where it was separated from the rail. Once you do this, push the seat in towards the center of the car to get the seat off of the rail, then pull the whole seat upwards, and it should pop out.
At this point, all of the seats are out! There are still a couple of other things you can do. The seat belts are held in by bolts, I believe the outer seat belt bolts are 13mm, and the bolts that hold in the buckles are 15mm. DO NOT attempt to completely take out the seatbelt, as it will trigger an srs airbag message, that can only be reset by the dealer or a tuner. Instead, take off the plastic piece that the seat belts come out of (be very gentle, they break easily!) and slowly tuck the belts in to that opening, then put the cover back on. Thats it! There are a few brackets and other things that can be taken out, however I have not done that yet, but will edit this post on how to do so. Here is what mine looks like now!
Looks a bit messy now, but will probably lay down some carpet for a cleaner look. Thanks for looking, I hope this helps!
