3 Common Heating Problems

3 Common Heating Problems

Posted on September 24, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on 3 Common Heating Problems

A problem with your heater may seem minor at first. But it could become worse and force you to pay for expensive repairs to your Asheboro, North Carolina, home. If you notice high utility bills, an uncomfortable house or other signs of heating issues, don’t wait to call a professional. Common heating problems include a malfunctioning thermostat, leaky ductwork and a dirty air filter.

A Malfunctioning Thermostat

A broken thermostat could keep your heater from turning on or off. To get the most accurate readings, make sure your thermostat is near the center of your home away from the outer walls. Changing the batteries could help as well. If your thermostat still isn’t accurate, have it replaced. A programmable thermostat can save energy by adjusting automatically while you’re working or sleeping.

Leaky Ductwork

Conditioned air that leaks out of holes or gaps in your HVAC system’s ducts will waste energy and raise your utility bills. Leaky ducts can make some areas feel drafty. They can even let dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander and other pollutants into your ductwork. These contaminants can make your HVAC system less efficient and make breakdowns more likely. Therefore, it’s important that a professional inspects your ducts periodically.

A Dirty Air Filter

Instead of catching them, a dirty or clogged air filter can spread contaminants throughout your home. It can increase dust levels on your floors and furniture. It also restricts airflow through your ductwork and forces you to use your system more to stay comfortable. You should change your HVAC air filter at least once every three months to avoid these problems. If you suffer from allergies, change the air filter every month.
