I START THIS POST WITH AN APOLOGY FOR BEING SO IGNORANT TO THE VOLVO BRAND, AS A CAR GUY I FAILED!! I CAN SAY I HAVE READ AND WATCHED MORE ABOUT VOLVO IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS THEN ANYTHING ELSE… IM SO IMPRESSED BY THE BRAND ITSELF.. What i don’t understand is why Volvo owners don’t talk about their cars more unless you ask.
I can’t stop talking about mine to the point my wife can’t listen any more. AND my dealer is thrilled with 2 referral sales already…
Omaha, I couldn’t agree more.. I am very very new to Volvo, My wife insisted on getting herself an XC40 back in january, i can’t lie i fought her on it. While i agreed with the fact that she was over BMW i pushed her hard towards a genesis gv70, she fought hard we fought, I had little to do with her buying her xc40 other then bargaining the deal down a little and upgrading a few things for her.. I liked her car just fine …not really a me car though. In july i went with her for a service issue and saw an S60 T8 BLACK EDITION and it stopped me in my tracks. My BMW 540M, lease was up, and after 35 years and 21 BMW leases, Im very over the brand! Hate the new grills, hate the new higher prices and ****tier leases, and the insides have become just too asian techno in look and feel. I drove the s60t8 a few times even went from volvo to genesis to drive the g70 and g80 as well as mercedes to drive e and c class and amg class sedans, didn’t like any of them.. and fortunately my dealer could NOT get his hands on a 2024 black edition PLUS… So a month ago i took possession of my brand new 2025 s60 T8 Black edition Ultra with polestar tune.
I freaking love this thing and yes it gets compared to many BMWs that came before it and cost 25-35% more.
It simply makes me giggle all the time especially the 0-100 times and i mean MPH not KPH.

COMFORT COMFORT COMFORT, most comfy car ive driven.. The ULTRA interior is incredible…
POWER and effortless power, seems to just keep coming on and on and on with ease
I love driving it in PURE and im shocked that i do, hybrid is insane, and polestar well i have blown away my share of m340s and M540s already and they truly are left scratching their heads..
I love the silence of electric and the overall ease of the car as a daily driver.. its just easy to drive…
The interior and infotainment system are simple clean mature and i really like that a lot… I agree some physical buttons would be great, and i have great hope that the update will address some of those issues.. BUT truth is i find all infotainment systems have something you need regularly buried somewhere… I often struggled to find menu items in my BMW… I think there’s a simplicity to volvo that’s great.
Im an apple eco system guy, but i can’t lie i enjoy telling google to turn on my ventilated seat etc.. It just works!!!
WISHES:
there had to be a way they could have had more storage in this car.. the center console is a joke, no wireless CarPlay or wireless charging in a car of this level makes no sense… but the carlink5.0 makes CarPlay wireless and seamless and i think actually faster to connect then plugging in… And the peak design dash mounted wireless charger is perfect so two big problems addressed…
Not having a button to close the trunk, while it does have a kick open feature i think is stupid cost cutting and i do hate manually closing the trunk (mostly because of finger prints and because im used to just pushing the close button…
Not having lined door pockets also annoying.. but some self adhesive backed leather from amazon has solved that as well.
I would love 60 miles of electric but considering i had no idea id love electric im good…
I didn’t know how much praise people had for the B&W sound system and in hindsight i wish i had opted for it as im a music person, but the HK is awesome especially with apple music lossless… and not sure i need the B&W. BUT i do wish there was better control over the system… especially a front to rear actual fade slider.. wish they would put the B&W tune of the system into the car even with the HK stereo…
NEED:
The car is too quick for its suspension, and i wish i could have gotten a full polestar model but they were no longer available… The car with variable suspension would be perfect… after a lot of inquiries, a polestar front strut brace and a new heavier hprdrace rear sway bar and end links i think will do the trick and make the car near perfect..
I can see a full polestar xc60 in my near future as well.. who knew 6 months ago we were a 3 bmw family now a 2 volvo family and likely a 3 volvo family by end of year.
A few fun custom badges from dave barton, some custom pedals and my car is my happy place….
Ultimately i have badged my car with a jerry garcia wolf badge because its truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing i love that no one knows what it is or what it can do… people just love it… and there are sooooo few s60s on the road which i also love.
