  • Porsche is planning a second round of updates for its Cayenne Coupe
  • A prototype for an updated Cayenne Coupe sporting a new front fascia has been spotted
  • Porsche is working on an electric Cayenne but will continue to sell gas and plug-in hybrid versions alongside it

Porsche has been spotted testing a prototype for a second facelift for the Cayenne Coupe.

The prototype in our latest spy shots shows the coupe-like Cayenne body style with a new front fascia with active shutters, similar to the design on the updated 911 range introduced for the 2025 model year. More advanced prototypes will likely show some changes at the rear as well.

It isn’t clear what other updates are planned, but Porsche typically introduces more horsepower with its updates. The Cayenne Coupe can currently be ordered in the U.S. in base, E-Hybrid, S, S E-Hybrid, Turbo E-Hybrid, and Turbo GT guises. The Turbo GT packs a 650-hp twin-turbocharged V-8, while the Turbo E-Hybrid throws electrification into the mix to boost output to 729 hp, albeit in combination with a weight penalty for the electric side of the powertrain.

The Cayenne’s coupe-like body style option was first launched for the 2020 model year and given an initial update together with the rest of the Cayenne lineup for the 2024 model year. This second update is expected to be introduced in 2026, for the 2027 model year in the U.S.

That’s about when Porsche is expected to introduce an electric next-generation Cayenne. It’s likely some details will be common between the two SUVs, despite the platforms being different. The electric Cayenne will utilize Volkswagen Group’s PPE dedicated EV platform already found in Porsche’s electric Macan, while the updated Cayenne Coupe will continue with the current model’s platform designed for gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Porsche originally planned to phase out the Cayenne with gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains this decade, though slowing growth in EV demand led to the automaker announcing last summer plans to keep its Cayenne equipped with internal-combustion engines on sale well into the next decade, including with V-8 engines. It will do this with other models too, like the Panamera.
