Ram Announces 10-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Warranty for 2026 Models.

Ram has announced that starting with the 2026 model year, most of its trucks and vans will come with a 10‑year/100,000‑mile (whichever occurs first) limited powertrain warranty for original owners in the U.S. The coverage includes key components such as the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles. Note that the standard bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage remains unchanged at 3 years/36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The warranty is included on a wide range of models, including the 1500, 2500, 3500, Chassis Cab (3500/4500/5500) trucks, and ProMaster vans, as well as specialty and performance models like the Power Wagon and RHO. Previously, Ram offered a 5‑year/60,000‑mile warranty for gas engines and 5‑year/100,000‑mile coverage for diesel engines. This coverage was in line with the brand’s main rivals, Ford and General Motors.
Longer Vehicle Loans
According to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, the decision was informed by ownership trends, with many customers choosing longer financing terms and holding onto their vehicles well beyond the payoff timeframe. The company noted that the extended warranty is intended to provide additional reassurance for those long-term owners.
Warranty Terms
The 10‑year warranty is only available to the original owner who purchased the product at retail. Fleet and commercial customers do not qualify for extended coverage. If the vehicle is sold, the warranty is reverted to the previous 5‑year term for subsequent owners. With this announcement, Ram has become the first major truck manufacturer to offer this level of powertrain warranty coverage across its entire lineup.
CG Says:
With exceptional driving characteristics and practicality, we’ve been huge fans of Ram’s full-size pickups since the late 2000s, when they were sold under the Dodge banner. We applaud this new effort to give potential buyers much-needed peace of mind, especially since Ram tends to score well below the industry average in consumer surveys of long-term vehicle dependability.
