2026 Nissan Micra EV makes full debut – rebodied Renault 5 E-Tech with up to 150 PS, 408 km range

After an early reveal back in March this year, the sixth-generation Nissan Micra has now made its full debut and will go on sale in Europe in late 2025. Now an electric vehicle (EV), the latest Micra (previously also known as the March) is one of four new EVs that Nissan plans to launch in the Old Continent by 2027, with the others being the next-generation Leaf and Juke, along with an unnamed A-segment model.

As previously reported, the B-segment Micra is built on same CMF-B EV (now referred to as AmpR Small) platform as the Renault 5 E-Tech. The available powertrains are shared too, with the base option featuring a 40-kWh battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor rated at 122 PS (121 hp or 90 kW) and 225 Nm of torque.

Nissan’s e-Pedal system is fitted here, allowing for one-pedal driving in most situations, and drivers will also be able to adjust regenerative braking via “paddles” behind the steering wheel. Selectable drive modes are also available power and torque availability, throttle response, steering tune and more.

The higher-spec powertrain gets a battery with an increased energy capacity of 52 kWh along with 150 PS (148 hp or 110 kW) and 245 Nm. Subject to WLTP homologation, the 40-kWh variant provides up to 310 km of range, while the 52-kWh battery is expected to deliver 408 km.

The Micra will support DC fast charging at a maximum of 100 kW (52-kWh battery) or 80 kW (40-kWh battery), with a 15-80% state of charge taking 30 minutes. There will also be a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system to power external devices.

Nissan says the Micra measures just under four metres long and 1.8 metres wide, while the wheelbase spans 2.54 metres. Those figures are similar to those of its Renault sibling, and if you park both side-by-side, you’ll notice some common design cues too.

The roofline, door mirrors, thick C-pillars and hidden rear door handles are clearly lifted from the Renault 5 E-Tech, although the Micra does get distinctive front and rear ends to make it appear unique.

The Nissan’s face appears to draw inspiration from the Concept 20-23, with circular LED daytime running lights that appear as “monocles” surrounding the rectangular headlamps, which are linked by a black trim piece. Further down, you’ll find H-shaped silver trim on top of a large black section with central air inlets.

As for the rear, it mimics the front by also having a large black section in the lower portion of the bumper, while the circular taillights mirror the DRLs. Look closely and you’ll notice more prominent rocker panels on the Micra compared to Renault EV.

According to Nissan, the Micra will available in 14 exterior colour combinations, with the body offered in Pure White, Elegant Silver, Mystery Black, Noble Marine, Authentic Blue and Rebel Red. Depending on grade, customers can order their car with two-tone schemes that add either a black or grey roof.

Inside, the Micra features a driver-focused dashboard where the centre stack and 10.1-inch touchscreen are angled towards the individual behind the wheel that looks at a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster.

If you enjoy Easter eggs, Nissan is keen to point out that there is a moulded outline of Japan’s most famous landmark, Mount Fuji, incorporated into the storage space between the front seats. Other things worth mentioning include the drive mode selector dial that is attached to the steering wheel, the start button between the screens and the rather high-rising gear selector stalk near it, and the electronic parking brake switch (with auto hold) placed above the USB-C ports and wireless charger.

Seat upholstery will be dependent on the selected grade, with customers being able to choose from three trims called Modern, Audacious and Chill. There’s also a 48-colour ambient lighting system, the NissanConnect infotainment system with Google built-in, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and a suite of Nissan ProPilot ADAS.
