BMW has announced details of a model year update for its flagship M product, trimming the range of the 2026 XM to a single high-spec model while bringing the price down.
- 2026 BMW XM pricing and specifications
- Previous range-topping XM Label now the sole model available
- AC charge rate raised from 7.4kW to 11kW
- Priced from $309,900 plus on-road costs
The flagship plug-in hybrid SUV from BMW – and the only unique model in the BMW M line-up – has been treated to a specification update.
Rather than sweeping styling or interior tech changes, BMW has limited changes to new wheel designs, and colour and trim options.
As before, the 2026 XM Label is powered by a 430kW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with a 145kW electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a 550kW/1000Nm combined output.
Despite being the most powerful BMW production car available, the XM isn’t the quickest, with its 3.8-second 0-100km/h time trailing models like the M8 Competition (3.2sec), M4 CS (3.4sec) and fellow plug-in, the M5 Competition (3.5sec).

The only mechanical specification change for the updated XM is an upgraded onboard AC charger allowing a peak charge rate of 11kW in place of the previous 7.4kW charger.
BMW claims a full charge can be completed in 2 hours and 45 minutes, 1 hour and 15 minutes quicker than before.
Electric range is rated at 98km (NEDC) and fuel consumption in test conditions is 2.7L/100km.
The new XM Label will arrive in Australia priced from $309,900 plus on-road costs, more than the previous entry-level 2025 XM (from $302,200) but less expensive than the 2025 XM Lavel it replaces (from $344,200).

The range of personalisation options has been updated with BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue exterior paint added to the colour palette.
New welcome light animations, a gloss black kidney grille surround, and standard 22-inch alloy wheels are also offered in overseas markets (with 22-inch alloy wheels already standard for Australian XM models, with 23-inch wheels an option).
Newly added interior colourways include Night Blue with Vintage (brown) Leather, Silverstone II (white) with Black contents, and Black with exclusive elements and Vintage Leather.
Styling elements like the front and rear bumpers, running lights, and tail lights are unchanged as part of this update.
Australian deliveries of the 2026 BMW XM are expected to begin in the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2025.
