The 2025 Volkswagen Amarok TSI452 Aventura – the only petrol-powered variant in the German brand’s dual-cab 4×4 ute lineup – will become cheaper as part of a range-wide MY25 upgrade coming soon.
Currently priced in line with the TDI600 Aventura flagship at $82,990 before on-road costs, the MY25 TSI452 Aventura will be repositioned $3000 lower at $79,990 plus on-roads, in the otherwise all-diesel Amarok lineup.
That will make the TSI452, which comes with a Ford Mustang-sourced 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 222kW of power and 452Nm of torque, just $1000 more expensive than the TDI600 PanAmericana ($78,990 plus on-roads) powered by a 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel.

There are no other price changes for the updated MY25 Amarok range, pricing for which appeared in some industry price lists earlier this month.

However, CarExpert understands the new TDI500 10 Deserts Edition, pricing for which was previously announced at $68,490 before on-roads, will receive a much sharper permanent national drive-away price.
Full specification details will be announced by Volkswagen Australia in the coming weeks ahead of first customer deliveries.
“The Amarok Aventura TSI452 is the best handling driver’s ute in the market, and we know there is more opportunity for it in Australia,” said the acting general manager of corporate communications at Volkswagen Group Australia, Daniel DeGasperi.
“The Amarok has been a ‘V6 diesel’ leader for several years, and we are taking on an opportunity to position the 2.3-litre turbo-petrol Aventura in between the PanAmericana TDI600 and Aventura TDI600.
“We’ll confirm exact updates and pricing in due course, but for now the MY24 TSI452 can be purchased for $79,990 drive away while stocks last – a significant saving on the usual $82,990 plus on-road costs manufacturer’s recommended retail price.”
Last month Volkswagen announced drive-away deals on MY24-plated Amarok variants until the end of June, amounting to a discount of over $6000 for the base Core TDI405 and discounts of up to $9000 for high-grade Aventura and PanAmericana vehicles.
Until June 30, the MY24 Amarok Core is available for $53,990 drive-away, the MY24 TDI500 Life from $59,490 drive-away, the MY23 TDI500 Style from $66,990 drive-away, the MY24 TDI500 Style from $69,740 drive-away, the MY24 TDI600 Style from $73,740 drive-away, the MY24 TDI600 PanAmericana from $76,990 drive-away, and both the MY24 Aventura TSI452 and TDI600 from $79,990 drive-away.
Prior to that in February, Volkswagen applied similar drive-away deals to MY23 and MY24 examples of its most popular Amarok Style variants.
Until March 31, MY23 Style vehicles were offered with nationwide drive-away pricing of $66,990 for the TDI500 and $70,990 for the TDI600, while MY24 Style utes were available for $69,740 drive-away (TDI500) and $73,740 drive-away (TDI600).
And based on a Sydney postcode, the Amarok Aventura TSI452 and TDI600 were both priced from $90,677 drive-away, and the TSI452 was also offered with an additional $3000 discount until the end of March.
At the time, Volkswagen Australia said it had strong supply of the most expensive PanAmericana and Aventura variants for the first time since the second-generation Amarok’s launch in 2023, and both Aventuras were also offered with a 3.99 per cent per annum comparison rate when purchased via Volkswagen Choice finance.
Entry-level Core and Life grades were also offered with what were described as a ‘large fleet discount’ for ABN holders.
It remains to be seen whether similar incentives will be offered for the MY25 Amarok range, or whether the TSI452 variant’s lower, now sub-$80,000 list price will eventually also become a drive-away price.
Last year, Volkswagen sold 8400 Amaroks in Australia, up 26.8 per cent on the previous year, making it the German brand’s best-seller ahead of the T-Roc small SUV (7777 sales).
However, Amarok sales declined by almost 36 per cent in the first quarter of this year, when just 1429 examples were sold – a drop in the ocean compared to 13,226 deliveries of its top-selling Ford Ranger cousin in the same period.
Volkswagen Australia acknowledged that the takeup rate of just five per cent for the single high-spec TSI452 variant was lower than expected, but says it’s happy with the sales performance of its Ranger-based ute overall.
“The new-generation Amarok last year successfully lifted Volkswagen’s ute sales performance to a level not seen in the preceding half decade, and the Amarok will continue to go from strength to strength with MY25 upgrades followed by the next generation Walkinshaw in 2026,” said Mr DeGasperi.
There is no update on a plug-in hybrid version of the Amarok, based on the newly launched Ranger PHEV which is produced in South Africa (rather than Thailand) alongside all Australian versions of the Amarok.
