The VinFast VF7 has made its launch debut at this year’s Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), with two variants being made available to customers in the country. First revealed at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the VF7 is a C-segment electric SUV that joins the brand’s other offerings in Indonesia, namely the VF6, VF5, VF3 and VF e34.

The VF7 line-up starts with the Eco that is priced at 499 million rupiah (about RM129k), which is followed by the Plus at 599 million rupiah (RM155k). As part of an early bird promo, both are being offered with a discount of 31 million rupiah (RM8k), which applies to the first 200 customers who take delivery by September 1 this year.

In terms of specifications, the Eco features a front electric motor rated at 177 PS (174 hp or 130 kW) and 250 Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h time of 10 seconds. Power for the motor comes from a 59.6-kWh battery that provides up to 430 km of range following the NEDC standard.

Meanwhile, the Plus has a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup with a total system output of 354 PS (349 hp or 260 kW) and 500 Nm, which significantly reduces the century sprint time to 5.8 seconds. The top variant is equipped with a 70.8-kWh battery, which has a lower energy capacity than the Plus AWD variant of the VF7 sold in Vietnam (75.6 kWh there). As such, the NEDC range is listed at 471 km instead of 496 km.

A complete spec sheet has yet to be posted on VinFast Indonesia’s official website, but based on what Indonesian media outlets are reporting, the VF7 is available with seven airbags, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, dual-zone climate control, a head-up display and a powered tailgate.

The Plus variant is said to come with a comprehensive ADAS package, including adaptive cruise control, driver fatigue monitoring, automatic high beam, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking assist, lane changing assist, front and rear autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist as well as lane centring control.

The VF7 measures 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,636 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,840 mm as well as a 190 mm of ground clearance (an important stat for Indonesia). Five exterior colours and two interior themes are available, with the Plus featuring a two-tone interior palette.
