  • The range still starts with the Prius LE, but it’s now priced from $28,350.
  • Continuing to sit at the top of the range is the Prius Limited AWD, starting at $36,765.
  • The Nightshade version includes a new shade of yellow dubbed Karashi.

Toyota has updated the Prius for 2025, adding a new trim level known as the Nightshade and increasing prices across the range. Mechanically, the Prius remains identical to the outgoing version, meaning it’ll continue to deliver the same level of efficiency that has made Toyota’s hybrid such an icon.

The new Prius Nightshade is positioned above the LE and XLE in the range and is priced from $32,795 in front-wheel drive and $33,895 with all-wheel drive excluding destination fees. Based on the XLE grade, it comes as standard with 19-inch black alloy wheels, black exterior badges, a black shark fin antenna, black front door handles, and black trimmings on the bumper. It also features black 8-way adjustable SofTex front seats and a carbon fiber detail on the dashboard.

Buyers can order the Nightshade in an exclusive color dubbed Karashi, a bright shade of yellow. Those who’d prefer something a little more subtle can opt for Midnight Black Metallic or Wind Chill Pearl.

No other trim changes have been made to the rest of the Prius family, although there are some small price adjustments. Last year, the 2024 Prius LE started at $27,950 (before destination), but that figure has since increased to $28,350. Similarly, Toyota has jacked up the price of the LE AWD from $29,350 to $29,750. Both the Prius XLE and XLE AWD are also more expensive than last year, starting at $31,795 and $33,195, respectively, small increases from the $31,395 and $32,795 of 2024.

Sitting at the top of the front-wheel drive range is the Prius Limited, priced from $35,365, $400 more than the 2024 model. Rounding out the 2025 family is the Limited AWD, rocking a base MSRP of $36,765, also a $400 rise.

All 2025 Prius models rock a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle naturally-aspirated four-cylinder with 150 hp at 6,000 rpm. Additional grunt is provided by an electric motor at the front wheels, lifting combined output to 194 hp for FWD models and 196 hp for AWD models. Torque sits at 139 lb-ft (188 Nm) at 4,000 rpm. AWD models also have a second electric motor at the rear and can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7 seconds flat, 0.2 seconds faster than the FWD version.

The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system is standard across the range. It includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, radar cruise control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Proactive Driving Assist.
