2025 Subaru WRX lineup drops base car, jumps $3,065

Posted on December 3, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on 2025 Subaru WRX lineup drops base car, jumps $3,065

The 2025 Subaru WRX sees an effective $3,065 price increase because of the deletion of the base model from its lineup.

The least-expensive WRX is now the Premium grade, which starts at $36,920 with the mandatory $1,170 destination fee. That’s compared to $33,855 for the 2024 base model, with $50 of that difference due to a higher destination fee for 2025.

Premium models come standard with 18-inch wheels and summer performance tires, heated front seats, an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Subaru’s EyeSight driver aids. An $1,865 option package adds an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and power moonroof.

The latter two features are standard on the WRX Limited, which starts at $41,300 for 2025 and also includes built-in navigation, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and additional driver aids like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and steering-responsive headlights.

New for 2025, the WRX tS sits above the Limited grade with a $46,875 starting price. With no plans for a new WRX STI, the tS is the sportiest version of the WRX available. The name stands for “tuned by STI,” and while it’s not quite at the same level as a dedicated model from Subaru’s performance division, the WRX tS does feature new dampers, an upgraded Brembo brake package, and 19-inch wheels with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires.

The WRX GT retains its place at the top of the range with a 46,875 sticker price and features like adaptive dampers and Recaro front seats.

All WRX models continue to use a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-4 delivering a peak of 271 hp, with standard all-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on Premium and Limited models, and mandatory on the tS. A CVT is available as a $1,350 option on the Premium and a $1,550 option on the Limited. This transmission is also standard on the WRX GT and unavailable on the tS.

The 2025 Subaru WRX is assembled in Gunma, Japan. It’s expected to reach U.S. dealerships in early 2025.
