The Mazda BT-50 has been given another facelift, around half a year since it was updated in 2024 though this time, the pick-up truck gains what Mazda calls ‘the largest’ of its updates since the current model – based on the third-generation Isuzu D-Max – made its debut in 2020.

Most prominent of its visual updates is the updated front fascia that brings a new, multi-pinned grille in gloss black with a larger Mazda logo. Its headlamps have been redesigned as well, now featuring the L-shaped LED daytime running light signature as seen on the 2024 CX-5. Lower down, the front bumper now features an air curtain for improved aerodynamic efficiency to reduce real-world fuel consumption, says Mazda.

Also redesigned is its rear end, which now gets a tailgate with a distinct ridge along its lower section, while new LED tail lamps join an enlarged Mazda logo, as at the front of the vehicle. For this update, the alloy wheels are of a revised design as well, here depicted in a black paint finish.

Being a facelift, the dashboard architecture is carried over from the previous update, albeit with an instrument cluster that now packs a larger, seven-inch multi-information display that is configurable.

Infotainment continues to be through a nine-inch touchscreen unit that now supports wireless connectivity for Android Auto, in addition to Apple CarPlay that is already wireless. Hardware connectivity is bolstered by USB-C ports, and the upholstery used has been updated with this facelift, namely on the door trim, console lid and dashboard mid-section.

Flagship trim variants get leather seat upholstery in black with Maztex and synthetic suede in terracotta, while the front seat headrests get ‘BT-50’ stitching.

For exterior colours, the 2025 BT-50 gets an exclusive Red Earth Metallic paint finish, in addition to the newly added Geode White Pearl and Sailing Blue Metallic choices, bringing the total of available exterior colours for the BT-50 to seven.

Active safety kit gets upgraded in the 2025 BT-50 with ADAS that brings new stereo front cameras which doubles the system’s field of view.

New to the model are traffic jam assist, rear cross-traffic brake and intelligent adaptive cruise control, the latter using enhanced traffic sign recognition capability to set the vehicle’s speed. AEB now detects motorcycles and pedestrians at intersections, while emergency lane keeping can now detect road edges without line markings.

Powertrain for the 2025 BT-50 facelift is expected to carry over the model’s existing line-up that borrows from the D-Max it is based on, namely 1.9 litre RZ4E-TC 1,898 cc four-cylinder turbodiesel that makes 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm from 1,800 to 2,600 rpm, and the 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX 2,999 cc four-cylinder turbodiesel that outputs 190 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm.

According to Mazda, pricing and specification details for the 2025 BT-50 will be revealed early next year ahead of its market launch in the first quarter of 2025.
