One of the best problems a person could have is needing to choose between the 2025 Lexus LX and the 2025 Lincoln Navigator. Why? Because whichever one you choose, you’ll end up with a luxurious, capable, tech-packed, and safe large luxury SUV. It’s a win-win situation.

That’s not to say there aren’t significant differences between them. In fact, it’s likely that one will suit your individual needs much better than the other. The Lexus LX, for instance, is classy, comfortable, and fairly spacious, but its third row is no match for the Navigator’s. Another favorite feature is the new-for-2025 LX 700h hybrid powertrain, a 457-horsepower, 583-lb-ft beast of a hybrid-enhanced turbocharged V6 engine. That’s more power and torque than the Navigator offers, and, like the Navigator, it comes with full-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LX offers both 2-row, 5-passenger and 3-row, 7-passenger configurations.

Two powertrains and five trims are offered in the 2025 LX range. Premium trim is the entry point, available only on the 409-hp LX 600, while the F Sport Handling grade is available with either engine. For those more concerned with feature and material upgrades, there’s the Luxury trim. The LX 700h offers two unique trim grades, as well: Ultra Luxury and Overtrail. As the names suggest, Ultra Luxury focuses on high-end features, while Overtrail adds extra off-road ability.

Lexus LX Highlights

Lexus Safety System 3.0+: With new features added for 2025, this system becomes even more advanced, offering dynamic radar cruise control, lane-keep and lane-departure assist, road sign assist, smart high-beams, and pre-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, plus more.

Ultra Luxury grade:  It’s the most expensive LX trim for a reason, and that reason is semi-aniline leather, diamond stitching, reclining/heated/ventilated rear seats, a power-adjust ottoman, among other extras.

F Sport Handling package: This add-on can take either version of the LX and add some handling zip. Among the included equipment is a limited-slip rear differential, upgraded suspension, and unique 22-inch dark gray metallic wheels.

Overtrail: This off-road package adds real ability to an already capable vehicle — all LX models come standard with an electronically locking center differential. The Overtrail adds front and rear electronically locking differentials, a real skid plate, and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires.

2025 Lincoln Navigator

Completely redesigned for the 2025 model year, the Lincoln Navigator is entering its fifth generation. The newest Navigator is still available in standard form and in long-wheelbase Navigator L guise for those who need as much cargo space and second-row room as possible.

Both variants come in one of two trims: Reserve or Black Label. With the Reserve trim, you get a generously equipped luxury SUV with an abundance of features and technology, including a dash-spanning 48-inch screen and hands-free self-driving ability with BlueCruise. The updated Navigator’s cabin is also excellent, with high-end materials and a modern design.

Capacity is where the Navigator finds most of its differentiation from the LX, with the Navigator’s strongest capabilities lying on the road and in the cabin. When properly equipped, the Navigator can tow up to 8,700 pounds. The LX’s max tow rating is 8,000 pounds. Likewise, the Navigator offers up to 121.6 cubic feet of space (in the L model), while the LX maxes out at 71 cubic feet in the 5-passenger version, or 64 cubic feet when equipped with three rows.

Lincoln Navigator Highlights

Lincoln Rejuvenate: Available on properly equipped models when stopped, this spa-like experience is intended to help alleviate the fatigue of long days on the road or in the vehicle by bringing together the audio, visual, massage, and even scent features of the Navigator to provide a set of rejuvenating experiences.

Black Label Atmospheric: This theme for the Navigator Black Label is next-level, with 24-inch Radiant Copper-painted alloy wheels, a themed interior design, and copper exterior accents.

BlueCruise: It’s not as omnipresent as GM’s Super Cruise, but quite capable when it is in use. The system does a good job of handling the Navigator’s mass, steering with confidence in many situations. We do wish it were a bit easier to tell when the system is activated, however.

48-inch display: This huge dash-spanning screen isn’t even the biggest you can get, but you wouldn’t know that sitting in front of it. Divided into regions to allow the usual functions of driver display and infotainment, the screen is large enough to have space leftover for various widgets, like a clock or the weather.

Similarities

The 2025 Lexus LX and 2025 Lincoln Navigator are two paths to similar, but not quite identical, destinations. Where the LX focuses more on the meeting of elegance with off-road ability, the Navigator is a luxurious and spacious means of transport for people, goods, and expensive toys.
