Lexus continues to electrify its lineup, but one model has yet to receive a hybrid powertrain, the flagship Lexus LX SUV. Now Lexus has changed that, with the introduction of the first Lexus LX hybrid, called the LX 700h.

The 2025 Lexus LX 700h, builds on the successes of the non-hybrid LX 600, but elevates it even more with its perfect fusion of luxury and rugged capability, offering an exhilarating driving experience both on and off the road. Its 3.4-liter hybrid powertrain delivers 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, an upgrade over the LX 600, which provides 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft torque. This boost in power results in a noticeably smoother and more refined driving experience.

For families who seek adventure, the LX 700h stands out as an excellent choice. It’s not just a luxury SUV—it’s a capable off-roader. The new Overtrail trim is designed for those who love to venture off the beaten path. It comes equipped with features like front and rear locking differentials, 33-inch tires, a metal skid plate, and an underbody view camera to help navigate rough terrain. Additionally, the 8,000-pound towing capacity ensures that hauling trailers or boats is no problem, further cementing the LX 700h as a versatile vehicle for those who want the best of both worlds.
Inside, the LX 700h offers a refined and luxurious experience, with high-quality materials throughout the cabin. The interior feels fresh and modern, thanks to the new digital gauge cluster and the shift-by-wire transmission system.
For those who want a truly first class experience, massaging seats are available as well as captains chairs in the second row that recline and even offer an ottoman. An adaptive suspension with active height control provide a smooth, relaxed ride, making long drives more enjoyable, although we wouldn’t call the LX 700h sporty. The availability of three rows of seating means you can bring the whole family along.

However, the LX 700h does come with a few small drawbacks. While the hybrid powertrain offers more power and refinement, its fuel economy specs don’t show a significant improvement over its non-hybrid counterpart, the LX 600. The LX 600 is rated at 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, while the LX 700h is rated at 19 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. The combined mpg for the hybrid version is rated at 20 mpg, compared to 19 mpg for the non-hybrid.

Additionally, the battery pack takes up some cargo space, slightly reducing capacity. There’s 11 cubic feet of space behind the third row in the LX 600, which drops to 7.2 cubic feet in the LX 700h. The LX 700h is large size with a commanding presence on the road, which can make it feel less nimble on winding back roads, especially when compared to smaller SUVs.
The pricing for the 2025 Lexus LX 700h starts at $115,350. It’s available in four trim levels: Overtrail, Luxury, Ultra Luxury and F Sport Handling.

At the end of the day the 2025 Lexus LX 700h excels as a luxurious, powerful, and highly capable SUV that delivers a more refined driving experience with the added benefit of hybrid efficiency.
