Kia has bold ambitions for the Tasman ute, pricing it in line with Ranger and HiLux – rather than targeting cheaper models in the category – with the top two models more than $70,000 drive-away.
- 2025 Kia Tasman pricing and specifications
- Five model grades for new ute
- X-Pro has less power but more luxury than V6 Ranger Wildtrak
- Priced from $42,990 before on-road costs
The most expensive 2025 Kia Tasman will cost close to $80,000 drive-away – and mid-grade models will be more than $65,000 – when it arrives in showrooms in July.
Orders are open now for the five model grades of Tasman dual-cab ute – from the base S to off-road X-Pro – which arrives ahead of a dual-cab chassis in August, and a single-cab chassis later in the year, with prices for these to be announced later.
The cheapest model in Kia’s initial range is the two-wheel-drive S – priced from $42,990 plus on-road costs, only a few hundred dollars cheaper than a Ford Ranger XL 4×2 dual-cab single-turbo ($43,280).
The top-of-the-range X-Pro off-road grade lists for $74,990 plus on-road costs – more expensive than a Ford Ranger Wildtrak V6 ($74,840) or Toyota HiLux GR Sport ($74,310).
Both of those utes have more power than the Tasman’s 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, but the Kia offers features such as heated rear seats, twin 12-inch displays, and a sunroof that its rivals cannot match.
Middle-of-the-range models – such as the X-Line ($67,990) and SX+ ($62,390) – are priced in line with comparable high-grade Ranger variants (Sport bi-turbo, $66,140).
Prices for the dual-cab chassis – planned to be offered in S 4×4 and SX 4×4 configurations – and single-cab chassis (S 4×2, S 4×4 and SX 4×4) are due at a later date.
All Tasman variants will be powered by a 154kW/440Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and two- or four-wheel drive.
Kia claims a braked tow rating of 3500kg, gross vehicle mass of 3250kg, and gross combination mass of 6200kg across the model range.
Within each model grade, buyers can choose to have the payload lowered below 1000kg for no extra cost in order to qualify for novated leasing agreements.
As standard, payloads range from 1013kg in the X-Pro, to 1124kg in the base S single-cab 4×2, while an integrated trailer brake controller is standard across the range.
Tasmans ordered in Clear White or Tan Beige will be fitted with body-coloured wheel-arch flares for no extra cost, rather than the grey designs paired with the other exterior colours: Steel Grey, Interstellar Grey, Runway Red, Cityscape Green, Aurora Black, and Denim Blue.
All Tasman variants are available with the novated-lease payload and body-coloured flares, both, or neither, all for the same price.
Ute segment firsts are said to include sliding and reclining rear seats, a folding console table, and dual wireless phone chargers, all in high-grade versions.
Standard in every Tasman dual-cab pick-up is a reversing camera, dual 12.3-inch interior screens, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual-zone climate control.
Higher grades add leather trim, heated and ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, larger 18-inch wheels (or 17s with all-terrain tyres on the X-Pro), and storage in the rear wheel-arch flares, on models with non-body-coloured versions.
