The Chery Tiggo 5X High Energy Edition has been launched in China, and the B-segment SUV goes to the Chinese market at prices ranging from 69,900 yuan (RM42,807) to 83,900 yuan (RM51,388), reported Bit Auto.
Powertrain in the Tiggo 5X High Energy Edition is a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine that outputs 115 kW (156 hp) and 230 Nm of torque, and these outputs are sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
These numbers are identical to those of the Omoda 5 sold in Malaysia. The Omoda 5 received its facelift in September this year, and the updated model will be named the Omoda C5 in Malaysia.
Measuring 4,400 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,588 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,630 mm, the Tiggo 5X wears identical exterior dimensions to those of the Omoda 5. In front, its fascia wears a look that is largely similar to that of the Omoda 5, albeit with a selection of styling revisions.
The Chery logo is slimmer and joined to the upper edge of the grille, and this is joined by LED daytime running lights and main headlamp units of a layout similar to the Omoda 5’s. The lower section is simplified, now more seamlessly blended into the upper grille section.
In profile, panel surfacing largely matches those of the Omoda 5, along with the darkened C- and D-pillars for the semi-floating roof look. Rolling stock is set of two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the full-width tail lamp assembly, tailgate-mounted spoiler, rear bumper and exhaust trim finishers mimic the exterior kit on the Omoda 5.
Inside, the cabin largely mimics that of the Omoda 5, too, albeit with a different sculpting in the upper section of the dashboard. Infotainment is by a dual 10.25-inch display with a Lion 5.0 AI software set.
Leather upholstery features in the Tiggo 5X. Where the interior equipment of the Tiggo 5X also differs from that of the Omoda 5 is in the centre console, as the setup in the Tiggo 5X gets a drive mode dial immediately aft of the transmission selector lever.
For comparison, the Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia was priced from RM109k at its local market launch. The 2025 Chery Tiggo 5X in China is priced from 69,900 yuan (RM42,807) to 83,900 yuan (RM51,388).
