Several roads in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang will be closed and traffic will be diverted for the Petronas Le Tour De Langkawi (LTdL) 2024 that will take place from September 29 to October 6, The Star has reported.
In Selangor, several routes in Hulu Selangor, Ampang and Kajang will be closed in stages and traffic will be diverted as stages four and five of the bicycle race will take place on October 2 and 3 on several routes in Selangor, said Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
The fourth stage of LTdL 2024 will begin at 12pm on October 2 from Dataran Pekan Hulu Selangor, and end in Bentong, Pahang. This will cover Jalan Dato Muda Jaafar, Jalan Rasathurai, Jalan Mat Kilau, Jalan Merdeka, Jalan Syed Mansor, Jalan KL/Tg Malim, Jalan Ampang Pechah, Jalan Kuala Kubu / Fraser Hill, and Sungai Selangor Dam.
Subsequently, the fifth stage of LTdL 2024 will start at 11am on October 3 from KLCC, and its route will cover Jalan Ampang, Jalan Taman Putra, Jalan Hulu Langat, Jalan Bukit Ampang Menara Tinjau, Jalan Sungai Tekali, Jalan Bukit Hantu, Jalan Sungai Lalang, Jalan Semenyih, Jalan Tasik Kesuma and Jalan Beranang.
“Road closures and detours in stages for all vehicles will be implemented by the District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) according to the day and stage of the race to facilitate traffic movement and safety at the route’s location. Road users are advised to avoid using the route involved at the time set for the road closure and to plan their journey in advance,” the Selangor police chief said.
Meanwhile in Butterworth, Penang, several roads in the Seberang Perai Utara district here will be closed and diverted for the race that will pass through on September 30, Saturday. Participants of the LTdL 2024 will Jalan Bumbun Lima, Jalan Kedah, Jalan Titi Mukim, Jalan Teluk Air Tawar, Jalan Bagan Ajam, Jalan Kampung Gajah, and Jalan Bagan Luar and end at Dataran Pemuda Butterworth, said Seberang Perai Utara OCPD ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman.
“During the race, the roads travelled by the LTdL 2024 participants will be closed and diverted to the public starting at 8pm on September 29, along Jalan Bagan Luar opposite the Petron gas station will be closed for tent installation work,” the Seberang Perai Utara OCPD said.
Motorists who want to reach Bagan Luar should use the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR), and the route from BORR to Jalan Heng Choon Thian will be closed from 1pm to 3pm, he added.
Jalan Bagan Luar will also be closed from 1pm to 3pm, and road users who want to go to Jalan Heng Choon Thian in the direction of BORR will be diverted to Jalan Heng Choon Thian in the direction of the Butterworth Kulim Expressway (BKE). Jalan Heng Choon Thian from the direction of BKE will also be closed from 1pm to 3pm, and road users heading to the BORR will be diverted to Jalan Bagan Luar towards Jalan Matcher.
Road users and members of the public who plan to use the affected roads are advised to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes, and obey instructions from the authorities, and motorists are prohibited from parking vehicles along the road involved with LTdL 2024 for the smooth running of the race.
