I own a 2019 XC90 T8 with 81k Miles on the clock. I bought this car back in Nov 2024 and its been great! Recently, I noticed that my Upper Left Engine Mount needed replacement as the fluid filled chamber seems to have collapsed, or its just leaked out. The Part number for this is: 32255205
There is a Youtube video I watched of a guy who replaced this part on a non T8 Version of this car
Its here:
Skip to: 13:10 to see the bad part. He is comparing it to a new one and its exactly what has happened to mine. The fluid has leaked out and the rubber is SUPER soft and no longer firm causing the mount to collapse.
I am going to attach the VIDA Instruction to this post but here is what I am struggling with.
The T8’s cooling system is complicated to say the least. In order to replace the Left Engine Mount you need to remove the Inverter Generator Module (IGM) which involves removing the cooling lines to the Inverter. The T8 splits its cooling system into two circuits outlined in the documents below. My Concern is that the Coolant will need to be drained out of the cooling loop that connects to the inverter, at least partially. I plan on using hose pinch clamps to minimize the amount of coolant lost from this Circuit. I am worried that the air which will be introduced into the circuit will get stuck in the loop as I can not for the life of me, determine how to add coolant to THAT specific cooling loop.
Outlined in the diagrams there is a separate expansion tank for the High Voltage Battery and rear ERAD and I do own an Autel MAXI that has advanced features to bleed the High Voltage Battery Cooling Circuit but I am not 100% sure that the circuit that connects to this inverter module is connected into that same cooling system.
- Has anybody attempted this repair on a T8?
- Has anybody removed the Inverter Generator Module (IGM) on a T8 and successfully bled air from the cooling system that it connects into?
- Do you see any other concerns with the coolant that comes out once the lines are off, or am I overthinking this?
- Nowhere in VIDA does it list a separate Coolant for the High Voltage Cooling Circuits. Does anybody know if the coolant used in that system is the same as the engine coolant? In my car they are both the color Green.
Check out attached documents for VIDA Info and examples of concerns.
