Here are all the mods/upgrades to date:
Tinted windows
Polestar tune
Polestar STB (only makes a difference if you drive sporty)
Rennen 19 inch wheels
Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate 19 inch all season tires
Vertini RSF 1.2 20 inch wheels
Michelin PS4S 20 inch tires (summer)
Heico front lowering springs
Lowered rear from 33mm to 6mm leaf spring spacers
PowerStop brake kit They work well and reliably. I have confidence in them when driving sporty.
Updated upper torque mount
IPD Billet lower torque mount. Car feels more torquey. Installs on driver’s side. Does cause extra vibration in cabin. But mostly under driver’s seat. I don’t mind it too much and it smooths out once up to speed. Relatively easy install. Can change back easy if desired.
V1 air intake tube
Do88 CAI kit
IPD 25mm solid rear sway bar
Bilstein B6 dampers front and rear
Vibrant resonator and muffler. Car sounds great now. Lower tone, more throaty. Sounds better on startup. Sounds great wot getting up to speed. I do hear the “fart” between gears. But it’s more like a low burble than the usual fart sound.
With the Bilstein dampers, rear sway bar and the 20 inch tires, it feels like a whole new car to me. I can really carve some back roads and the car stays underneath me with very little body roll. I hardly feel the curve. The car feels like a slot car on a magnetic track. I wish there was a track close to me. I’d really like to see how it handles pushing it harder. Can’t drive as sporty as I’d like to on public roads. Exit ramps are more fun now!
I know what others say about 20 inch wheels but my ride hasn’t suffered. Maybe the Bilstein’s help a lot. Maybe the Michelins are that good or the combo. The Bilsteins did take away the last bit of vibration that RF wheel and tire balance didn’t fully cure. The car feels solid and smooth under me. The 20 inch tire/wheel package is 10lbs lighter on each corner than the stock and Rennen/Goodyear Eagle 19 inch packages. So weight isn’t an issue either.
The only other interesting thing I did was de-badge the rear end. I left the VOLVO on the trunk lid. I want folks to know it’s a Volvo, but wonder exactly what model it is.
I really love the look of this car. Most of my mods are performance related and don’t really change the looks of the car. The lowering and wheels do some but for the most part looks stock.
There is only one other upgrade I’m considering and that’s a big brake kit. But that upgrade is down the road a bit.
