History & Reason I’m Selling:
I grew up in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley dragging all my friends to the Burbank Ikea for the meatballs. In my 20s, that led me to owning a Saab 9-3 and later taking a trip to Sweden with my then girlfriend. We rented a tank of a XC70 our first night in Abisko National Park, drove through a blizzard, and I fell in love. I knew my next car and first wagon had to be a Volvo so when my now wife got an offer to move to Texas, I took advantage of her relocation package’s free car shipping and embarked on a nationwide search for VMO. We were living in San Francisco at the time and I found a unique Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) beige on beige Platinum with 48k miles down in San Diego. Was hoping VMO would be my forever wagon, but recently a unicorn City Weave V60 T6 popped up on Cars & Bids and I had to jump on it. If only they made a non-diesel MT version…

Add-ons and Upgrades:
βœ… Volvo Extended Warranty (Unlimited Miles) via Fidelity expires Feb 2026: I purchased the official CPO Platinum level Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) aka extended warranty from Steingold for 10 years and unlimited miles. It is fully transferable and expires 10 years from the in-service date of Feb 2016.
βœ… Avery Dennison Ceramic IR window tint: Front Windows = 30%, Rear Windows + Rear Windshield = 20%
βœ… LED Puddle Lights: My driver’s side puddle light cover fell off and the only fix was a full replacement so I got a pair of LEDs from eBay instead. They’re just regular lights, no Volvo logo.
❌ My brother (gearhead, EE major, Army Corp of Engineers) and I (can barely change oil) attempted to upgrade the perfectly fine OEM rear shocks with the red KONI Special Actives as many forum members suggested. I’m assuming because of the stiff sport chassis, but between Jun 2021 and Mar 2022, one or both of the KONIs kept breaking on rough/broken pavement, usually just cruising on the highway. Even with guidance from KONI support, after the 3rd time I threw in the towel and got a new set of OEMs which have given me zero issues since. Because of FCP Euro’s lifetime warranty I have a brand new replacement set I can throw in if you want to live on the edge and give it a shot.

Maintenance and Service History Highlights: I found an honest Volvo service advisor in Aldo at Park Place Volvo in Dallas. Also lucky to have plenty of transparent and reputable chains to perform non-warranty work. I’ll extensively list the remaining non-highlights in a later post…
βš™ Discount Tire: Rotation and Balance every ~5k miles around the time I do my oil changes. Last visit was a few days ago (Jun 3, 2025) and the Michelin Cross Climate 2s measured at a 6 tread depth and have ~39k miles of warranty left (out of 60k miles, installed Dec 2023).
βš™ Brakes Plus: Any non-warranty work like brakes and alignments with transparent prices (they use my FCP Euro parts and only charge me labor). All brake rotors and pads were replaced Dec 2022 with new rear pads replaced May 2024 (these cars go through the rears very quickly).
βš™ Oil Changes every ~5k miles by yours truly. I’m not too handy, but one thing my dad taught me that stuck was how to (slowly πŸ˜…) do an oil change. I didn’t drive much during Covid, so starting with my 3rd oil change at 67k miles my brother convinced me to utilize FCP Euro and their lifetime warranty. So 12 out of the 14 oil changes are FCP Euro’s suggested Liqui Moly oil kits that I alternated with the previous recommended 5W-30 or the currently recommended 0W-20.

Things To Note:
πŸ“ Has the infamous B4204T11 Engine w/faulty piston ring design. Serial # is 1370208 (need higher than 1501327 for revised piston rings). Fortunately, I haven’t experienced noticeable oil sipping in my ~77k miles. The only possibly associated repair was the breather box (oil trap) replaced under warranty at 85k miles. I intentionally have Volvo change my spark plugs so they can check the plugs and coils for oil leaks (got the all clear on the last Volvo service in Jan 2025).
πŸ“ The manufacture recommended timing belt service will be due at 150k miles or in Feb 2026 as the wagon hits ten years old.
πŸ“ Front right bumper lip has a noticeable scratch from first owner (lease return from original dealer).
πŸ“ Front seats could use some leather reconditioning, but they are as comfortable as ever. It’s early, but I still think they’re the best seats ever, even compared to my new-to-me V60.
πŸ“ Has the best available Xenon headlights, but they are objectively dim. Recommend replacing the bulb with LEDs if you have issues.
πŸ“ Stiff sports suspension and firmer ride are very apparent on bad/broken pavement. Avoid potholes at all costs!
πŸ“ Aisin transmission isn’t the worse, but omg it is so lousy compared to my Dad’s F30 3-series. It’s saving grace is the amazing sport mode. When in Drive, simply push your shifter to the left to activate better transmission logic and the wagon comes alive. Default rpm is higher and coupled with the paddle shifters, you can rev to redline without the car shifting too early. In comparison, my new wagon has a manual mode, but it’s lacking this specific sport mode and I might end up shelling out for the Polestar Tune.
πŸ“ To assuage any concerns, I ordered a Blackstone report for the last oil change I did at 121k miles in Feb 2025. Wagon passed with flying colors!
