I have owned this car since 2017, I’ve put over 75k miles on it (currently 199,300) and I planned to keep it for a long time, however due to a growing family it is time to let it go.
This car has been nothing but reliable and fun to own for the past 7 years, it has always started for me and has never let me down. It’s been the epitome of Swedish reliability and I would trust this car to drive across the country.
Since purchasing I have replaced the following:
Brakes:
All four brake pads and rotors (Brembo)
Flushed with ATE DOT 4 Type 200 fluid
Suspension:
Front lower control arms (IPD poly)
Ball Joints (IPD HD)
Tie rod ends
Sway bar end links (Meyle HD)
It sits on BC Racing Coilovers.
Poly cross bar inserts.
Mechanical:
Replaced the steering rack with a used unit with 60k miles on it.
ALL engine mounts and subframe mounts were replaced 2 years ago.
Swedesource air filter in red special edition.
Coolant system has been cleaned and flushed.
New thermostat.
New spark plugs and coil packs.
Fuel Filter replaced.
Injector seals replaced.
Tires replaced with Conti ControlContact in 2024.
Oil Changes have always been either Mobil 1 Super Synthetic or lately Liqui Moly Top Tec 4600 with a Mahle filter between 4k-7k miles.
I’ve sent oil samples off to Blackstone and they have always come back positive.
Electrical:
The Xenon ABL headlights work perfectly and the bulbs and ballast were replaced with Volvo ballasts and Osram bulbs
LED sequential side mirror turn signals.
It has a new TCV and MAF sensor.
Grom Audio Bluetooth adapter.
Airbag recall has been completed.
This is not comprehensive, I can put a full list with dates together for serious buyers.
Cosmetics:
The clear coat has failed which is typically with the Passion Red Volvos of this era.
It has a couple hail dings mostly in the hood and roof.
The very very rare OEM BBS Eudora wheels were from a different car and are curbed.
Headlights need refinishing.
Interior is 17 years old, the leather is amazingly in great shape, no tears or holes. But there is still wear from over the years.
What is broken:
The sunroof has never worked properly, I have spent very little time investigating the issue, I just don’t use it.
There is one front fog log housing that is broken on the backside.
I didn’t replace the TPMS sensors so that light comes on intermittently.
I will get the occasional DTCS light, I replaced both front ABS sensors but the problem is likely the clockspring.
Hand brake is non functional, determined it was the pads but never bothered to fix.
TL;DR
Mechanical sound, cosmetically worn but not worn out. Excellent starter car or fun daily.
