Hello everyone,

I currently have my eye on something else so I’m looking to sell my Volvo S60R. This is my third P2R and in my dream spec.

I met the owner, Mike, on the P2R Owners Facebook page when he shared a photo of it 5 years ago and we stayed in touch since.

It’s a 2004 Volvo S60R that was originally Black on Nordkap but was later repainted Sonic Blue with Atacama swapped. The door jams were also repainted and the only area that wasn’t is the engine bay. The car does carry a rebuilt title due to a front end collision back in 2009 back the previous owner and I don’t have any details beyond that. Structurally, I hadn’t noticed any significant damage and the car drives straight, with no vibrations or anything out of the ordinary.

In December ‘24, I was in the market for another fun unique car, so I reached out to Mike and we finally made a deal happen.

Often, when I look at vehicles to purchase, 50% is the car and the other 50% is the person who I’m buying it from. I could tell from my conversations that this car was Mike’s prized possession and the extensive list of maintenance and modifications shows.

Since a lot of maintenance was done to the car within the last 5-10k miles, I was able to focus on doing some cosmetic modifications (which is what I enjoy the most in the modification process).

Below is what I’ve done:

Viva Performance Center Front Lip – The front lip arrived primed and ready to be painted. Initially, I had it color matched to the car but later decided to wrap it in a satin brushed aluminum finish to add some contrast to the front of the car and flow with the outter grill trim and headlight housing.

Chrome Side Mirrors – In an effort to add more contrast to the car, I began my search for OE mirror caps in brushed aluminum (similar to the aesthetics of an Audi S model vehicle) but couldn’t find any. I found a set of chrome mirrors but later had them wrapped in a light silver finish to flow with the silver accents throughout the car.

Spoiler King Lip Wing – When I first picked the car up, it had an OEM lip wing which is clean and subtle but looked out of place next to the factory sport kit. I searched and found a lip wing from Spoiler King that was slightly more aggressive than OEM and flowed better with the kit IMO. I also had this color matched to the car.

Side Corners Wrapped – The orange reflectors in the headlights was a cosmetic eye sore so I wanted to come up with a creative way to make them less noticeable. After going to my local vinyl shop, they had a silver finish that was very similar to the OE headlight housing and it had the corner wrapped in vinyl. We went through a couple iterations but I’m happy with the way that they turned out. The only other ways to achieve this look is to either get the euro lights OR take the housings apart, pop out the reflector and reseal them. This method was less intrusive and is easy reversible in case someone doesn’t like it.

Rear Emblems – The car didn’t have any emblems in the back so I added the S60, VOLVO lettering, and a custom R emblem in blue and yellow. I also have the OG VOLVO lettering that is closer together if someone prefers that better.

Wheel Spacers – The fitment of the wheels sat nice and flush in the front but not the rear so I added a set of 25mm wheel spacers to match the front. The rear QP’s had a wide lip so I had them rolled for clearance without damaging the paint.

ProClip USA Phone Bracket – I don’t like to stick things on the glass or dash so I ordered a vehicle specific phone bracket for the S60R and added a MagSafe mount so it’s compatible with my current phone. If you have a different type of phone, you can always replace the mount instead of the entire bracket .

Paint Correction / Ceramic Coating – On April 14th, 2025, I did a 1 stage paint correction on the car and applied a layer of GYEON Pure Evo ceramic coating. The coating is rated to last up to 3 years with proper maintenance and care.

On April 19, 2025, I was leaving a local car gathering and I was merging onto the highway, the car started sputtering and I noticed a ton of white smoke coming out of the exhaust so I pulled onto the shoulder and shut the car off immediately.

I called a tow truck and had it towed to my local shop where they later determined that the block cracked and the coolant had mixed with the oil.

At that point, I had a decision to make.

The car was listed for sale at that time so it didn’t make a ton of sense for me to dump a ton of money into it as I was already selling it at a loss compared to what I paid for it back in Dec ‘24.

The most cost effective route was for me to put in another R motor and call it a day.

That being said, I had a hard time with the idea of putting something back in the car that could inevitably happen again so I but the bullet and the did the T5 swap.

After talking to several friends in the local Volvo Community, Steve Kasafis in NJ came recommended as a reputable source for an engine. I called Steve and he explained the different options to me, and I decided to stick with the T5 route vs shimming the R motor.

I dropped the engine off to my shop and they were able to complete the swap within a few days while provided photo documentation throughout the entire price. He confirmed that the previous owner didn’t cut any corners when it came to the maintenance of the car. Since a lot of maintenance was done to the R motor within the last 5-10k miles, my mechanic was able to transfer many of the parts that were recently replaced or still in great working condition such as the PCV, Timing Belt Components, Plugs and Coils, Intake Manifold, Turbo, etc.

The clutch was checked and had plenty of life left as well.

Below is a list of all of the Maintenance and Modifications that were done to the car. It’s a combination of what the previous owner did and myself:

The car isn’t perfect and has some cosmetic imperfections but considering its age, I’d say it’s very clean.

The only thing that doesn’t work to my knowledge is the sunroof and I haven’t really looked into it as I never use the sunroof.

The previous owner and I are very similar as we both are meticulous with keeping it clean and don’t drive the car hard. We’re more interested in cruising and taking it easy with the occasional spirited drive.

Car is always garage kept, driven on fair weather days, and kept on a trickle charger when it’s not being driven.

At this point in time, I had my eye on another platform that I haven’t owned yet so I’m looking to sell the car (no trades).

$22k is my price and I’m taking a loss at that price
