2004 S40 For Sale | SwedeSpeed

Posted on June 10, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on 2004 S40 For Sale | SwedeSpeed

General info:

– 2004 Volvo s40 T5

– 2.5L L-5 20V DOHC Turbo

– 184k miles

– Automatic

– Engine model: B5254T3

– VIN: YV1MS682242012580

– I have owned it since 164k miles

– $1900 OBO – feel free to ask any questions or shoot me an offer. I care more about going to a good home than the money. I really don’t want to sell it, but I am a college student so having multiple vehicles isn’t ideal.

Note: the picture of the dash was taken with the ignition on but engine off – oil light is not on when the engine is running – you can see this in the video I included starting it

Pros

– Leather, heated, programmable seats

– Cruise control

– ABS and traction control

– Sunroof – recently cleaned out the drain hose

– Comes with both keys

– Working heat and ac

– Great highway gas mileage (almost 30 with cruise set)

– Serviced every 3k miles since I have owned it – last one done at 184k

– New tires

– Very clean underneath especially for its age

Cons

– Radio doesn’t work

– PO cracked grille

– Doesn’t do well in the cold – below 40-ish (F) it has trouble starting and runs rough if you don’t let it warm up

– Rebuilt title – the accident was way back in 2014 so not recent

– Rear end is unstable at high speed over bumps the back end shakes a little – I think it is the rear control arms need replaced

– It is an old vehicle

– small exhaust leak – someone did some exhaust work with zero welding experience

– Car alarm does not work – there is a loose connection somewhere that caused it to randomly go off so I just cut the wire – can be easily fixed with some crimps and 5 minutes

– Paint fade

– Engine codes – has misfire codes, likely needs all new ignition coils but it was the end of the school year when those popped up so I didn’t have the money to replace. It idles well so the misfire is not bad at all

– Rust on corners by front doors

– Little bit of curb rash on rims

Replaced

– Tires (October 2023)

– Tie rod ends

– Passenger control arm

– Stabilizer links (PO replaced driver, I replaced passenger)

– Rear stabilizer links

– CV joint boots

– MAF replaced and throttle body cleaned

– Cylinder 3 ignition coil

– Spark plugs March 2024

– Battery Jan 2024

– Boost control/temp sensor (integrated)

– PO replaced calipers

– New headlights and LED fog lights

Additional info

– I have a new belt for the alternator – have not got around to replacing it

– I also have the socket for the oil filter (weird size) if you are a DIYer it can come with the car
