2002 V70 XC Electrical Deterioration – Insight Would Be Helpful | SwedeSpeed

Hiya guys, still working with the XC70 I got about 4 months back, Laundry List of issues has grown exponentially.

Mechanical grievances aside, my biggest issue has been electrics the past few months, seems as though the Left side of the car is dying, electrically. It’s strange…

Left back brake light stopped working, replaced bulb, no change. Flickered on for a split second at one point, bulb is still fine but even with the new one in, it continues to not work. Then the Sunroof controls stopped working. Then the Drivers seat profiles. (Can still move seat, just can’t used the saved settings) now the front left lowbeams, and also the driver side low speakers are beginning to randomly not work. Checked fuses, and besides the fact that the speaker amplifier one was mysteriously missing, nothing was amiss and all fuses were functioning correctly. No, putting in a new speaker amplifier one did not remedy the speaker issue on the driver side. Also; the whole climate control unit has never worked since I got it, guy told me so it’s not a new thing. This is an issue however as I am in Canada and with winter fast approaching I will need heat to drive in the cold, lest my windshield is constantly fogged up. Right now I just have to shut all vents except the dash ones to let tiny amounts of air in. The switches for adjusting intensity don’t work at all, no air will come through besides the tiny amount that always blows, however changing it to warm does make the air warmer. Changing it to cold just makes the air the same temperature as outside.

So, is all this stuff on the left side failing a coincidence, or has there been a wiring issue within the left side/the wiring harness is starting to kick the bucket one way or another? Don’t have a code reader myself or any friends who do right now so I’m unable to diagnose exactly.

TLDR:

*Rear Left Brake Light Non functioning, all other left side tail lights still work.

*Front left running lights not functioning, all other left side front lights still work.

*Left side speaker in drivers seat not functioning off and on

*Driver seat position settings no longer functioning, all other movement controls for seat still working though

–As well

*Climate Control Non-Functioning

*Sun Roof Non-Functioning

Putting them all out like this is making me think it’s just general electrical issues divorced from one another in many places. Still feels like the cars electrical system is slowly dying though.

Any Insight on possible causes, personal fixes, or what I’ll just have to bring it into a shop for would be appreciated. Thanks for any responses.
