1997 Volvo 850R | SwedeSpeed

Here for sale is my beloved 850R wagon. I have owned it for the last 10 years and almost traveled 140,000 miles with it over that time with no issues. This was my daily driver and unless I was out of town or riding with someone else this was what I drove. Unfortunately, back in 2018 due to wiring harness issues it does not run. It had ran fine up until this point, I had driven to the mall on a rainy day, parked it ran in, came back out. Went to start it, turned the key, car acted like it wanted to start but it just cranked but no fire. i spent the next few months trying to figure it out, replacing everything and other Volvo enthusiasts recommended with no luck. Finally, I took it to a shop to have them diagnose the problem. They narrowed it down to a short somewhere in the harness and it was frying the computer (3 computers to be exact) I searched on every forum to see if I could find someone else that had this problem with no luck. So, they recommended I buy another harness. I then had the wiring harness removed at Autobahn Service Center in Copley Ohio. Feel free to call them to verify my claims. I then shipped it to Dave Barton who then shipped the harness to the Netherlands to have it recreated (my harness was used as the template for the 850 automatic). In the meantime, the car sat while the harness was being built and I moved on to other projects, and purchased another Volvo daily driver. Months later i received the harness but it was busy season for the shop so it got put on the back burner. Then I moved it to storage till another date. Well that never happened and 5 years later here we are. Someone else is going to have to finish this project because I no longer have interest. I have 4 Volvo’s, one i just picked up last week and some other cars so I just don’t have the time or space for this one. We’ve had a long and great journey together but now it’s time to move on.

Besides that, most of you will recognize that the front end is from a V70R, I did the swap out of frustration 1 and 2 to preserve the original 850R front end. I had it fixed twice over the years due to large debris left in the road for it to eat. the last time was a small gas can in the middle of the highway that I could not miss due to being in between 2 semis. So that was it for me, I went to my favorite Volvo dealer in my area to see if the 850R front fascia was still available but nope, discontinued. So, I asked about the V70R and sure enough you could still buy them new. So I bought one and all the accessories needed to make it work. The hood and fenders are from a S70. I spent thousands on this swap alone, I have the receipts to prove it. The original front end comes with the sale of the car.

I have done a few upgrades and maintenance along the way. All bolt ones, no boost upgrades or ecu flashes. I also babied the car as I do all my cars. Some upgrades are as follows:

-Big Bore Intake
-Full Ultra Racing Chassis Bracing (chassis and rear upper shock tower, Volvo aluminum front)
-3″ cat back exhaust
-Do88 aluminum radiator
-Rear big brake upgrade
-Tow hitch installed (never used)
-V70R Front end swap (comes with original 850R front end) pictures of swap and paint available*
-Timing belt, water pump and pulleys done at 200k
