Broad Arrow Auctions, in partnership with Air|Water and Luftgekühlt, is excited to host their second all-Porsche Auction at the 2025 edition of Air|Water, the globally recognized Porsche enthusiast event, on 26 April in Costa Mesa, California. This must-attend auction will feature an elite selection of rare and standout examples from the renowned marque including, this 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 X88 estimated at $530,000 – $560,000.

In the rarified world of Porsche Works Performance Packages, there are those easily identifiable by the iconic Flachbau (flatnose) front-end treatment, like the X83 package for Japan with 944-like covered headlights, and the X84 and X85 packages for Rest-of-World and North America respectively, both with 928-like pop-up headlights. Then, there are those that are not immediately apparent, but which connoisseurs recognize as some of the most desirable of the so-called “package cars.”

These include a limited 64 examples of the Turbo 3.6 produced in 1994 with the coveted X88 Works Performance Package, which bestowed the M64/50 air-cooled flat six with an uprated turbocharger with increased boost, a more efficient intercooler, modified cylinder heads with larger ports, increased-capacity fuel injectors, and more radical camshafts with advanced engine timing. These upgrades brought 25 additional horsepower for a peak output of 385 horsepower at 5,750 rpm—making it the most powerful model in the 964 range. Unlike its Flachbau counterparts, however, the front end of the X88 was unchanged—instead distinguished only by its 18-inch Speedline spit-rim wheels and four-outlet exhaust system (XE2).

This German-market 911 Turbo 3.6 X88 was completed by Porsche Exclusive on 2 December 1993 as a 1994 model year. Finished in stunning Paint-to-Sample non-metallic “Ferrari Yellow” over a Black leather interior, its extensive original options list included heated and electrically-height-adjustable sports seats, electric sliding sunroof, top tinted windscreen, deleted model designation, and a 92-liter fuel tank along with the coveted X88-code equipment. Additionally, this exclusive package car also carries a rare front lip spoiler (X92) typically reserved for the Turbo S X88—of which just 17 were built.

Inside this 1994 Porsche 911, the classic yellow hues complement a black leather steering wheel and dashboard with gauges. The manual gear shift stands ready, surrounded by impeccably upholstered black seats—a true highlight at Broad Arrow Auctions.

Offered with 52,848 kilometers (approximately 32,839 miles) at the time of cataloging, this powerful and rare 964 variant benefits from a recent major engine-out service courtesy of Repasi Motorwerks LLC in Stratford, Connecticut. The work, completed in November 2023, addressed multiple systems including engine oil leaks, secondary air components, waste gate rebuilding, fuel and ignition system service, a clutch replacement, and suspension upgrades with Bilstein coil-overs and RSR-style tie rods and control arms. The car also received brake system refurbishment with stainless steel lines and caliper refinishing, HVAC repairs, and a Fister short shifter upgrade. Invoices on file show the car had 50,465 kilometers recorded at service completion, with the total cost of the work exceeding $55,000. Now meticulously prepared, this exceptional package car awaits its next enthusiast to enjoy its full potential.

In seamlessly blending unalloyed aesthetics with an exhaustive technical specification and stunning performance, these cars remain among the most desirable of all roadgoing Porsches of the post-901/911-shape era, embodying the very finest of their lineage. In the case of this immaculately specified example, such desirability is correspondingly enhanced, and as such it would make an ideal and inspired addition to any serious Porsche or performance-focused car collection.
