There is a pickup truck boom happening, and truck shoppers are the ones who benefit. The midsize truck segment is thriving, there are compact truck choices out there, and there are even hybrid and electric models to choose from. With all of those choices, it can be hard to keep track of which ones are the most popular. Did any newcomers crack the top 10 list? Read on to find out.
Here are the 10 best-selling pickup trucks in the United States in 2024, according to Automotive News.
1. Ford F-Series

Total Units Sold: 765,649
This one shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as the Ford F-Series has been the best-selling line of trucks in America for 48 years. The lineup includes the F-150 — the most popular truck in the F-Series line and the Kelley Blue Book Full-Size Truck Best Buy of 2024 — the F-250, the F-350, larger heavy-duty offerings, and electric and hybrid choices.

2. Chevrolet Silverado

Total Units Sold: 549,945
As is the case with Ford, Chevrolet includes its heavy-duty trucks in the total number of Silverados sold in calendar year 2024. And while the sales numbers look like they are significantly lower than those of the F-Series, keep in mind that when you factor in GMC Sierra sales, GM sold more full-size trucks than Ford.

3. Ram Pickup

Total Units Sold: 373,120
Tough and capable, but with near-luxury interiors and a terrific ride, the Ram is third on our list. Ram sales numbers factor in heavy-duty trucks as well as the popular Ram 1500. The 2024 model year marks the end of the road for the Ram Classic, but Ram introduced a powerful twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine. In addition, a plug-in hybrid, an EV, and new heavy-duty trucks are just around the corner.

Total Units Sold: 192,813
The Tacoma continues to be the best-selling midsize truck in America. This pickup has been sold in America since 1995 and is well established as a reliable, capable, tough truck and an excellent off-roader. It was all-new for 2024, with a dramatic redesign that saw the addition of potent turbocharged 4-cylinder engines, as well as a new hybrid option. It was also Kelley Blue Book’s Midsize Truck Best Buy.

7. Ford Maverick

Total Units Sold: 131,142
The Ford Maverick marked the return of the compact truck to the American market. Its robust sales numbers are evidence of how popular affordable trucks are here, as the Maverick outsold all midsize trucks except the Tacoma. 8. Chevrolet Colorado

Total Units Sold: 98,012
The Chevrolet Colorado is a midsize crew cab truck that offered three versions of a powerful turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in 2024. Trim levels like the ZR2 and ZR2 Bison resonate with off-roaders, while the best-in-class 7,700-pound towing capacity makes the Colorado a highly appealing truck for boat and trailer owners.

9. Nissan Frontier

Total Units Sold: 68,155
The Nissan Frontier is rugged and tough, and there’s a powerful 310-hp engine under the hood of every truck, regardless of trim level. There are stout off-road versions available, as well as a Hardbody styling package that leans into some of the Nissan’s 1980s truck legacy. The Frontier is one of the few midsize trucks on the market that is available as an extended cab, which can be a useful body style for work trucks.

10. Ford Ranger

Total Units Sold: 46,205
The Ford Ranger is perhaps the most impressive sales success on this list. For 2024, Ford gave the Ranger a thorough redesign, making the truck larger, more powerful, and more comfortable. It is also a great lower-cost alternative to the F-150. The Ranger is sold as a crew cab, with a powerful turbo base engine and an available 315-hp turbo engine. There’s also a Raptor version. With all of these changes, Ranger sales were up 42.9% compared to 2023.
