Hello everyone,

I recently picked up an 04 V70R and absolutely love it — though I’ve been working through a few issues. I’ve hit a wall with a fuel system problem and would appreciate any insight:
- The fuel gauge always reads 0, regardless of actual tank level
- I’ve already replaced the main fuel pump (right side)
- Verified float works
- Using VIDA, the right-side fuel level sensor shows 0
- Visually, the left (passive) side of the tank is still full, even after driving while right side is near empty
A few questions and notes:
- Has anyone encountered this combo – fuel gauge not working + fuel stuck in left tank – and resolved it?
- Could a faulty left-side sender (the passive unit) prevent fuel transfer and cause the right-side sender to read 0?
- I understand the jet pump (venturi/siphon) system is responsible for pulling fuel from the left to right using return flow – does that only activate after the right side is drained, or should it always be active during engine operation?
- The car runs without any issues, hesitation or rough idle. So aside from full left side of the tank and now working fuel gauge it doesn’t any signs of fuel problem. But the code for fuel level sender causes check engine and wont pass emissions (REM-4A37 )
Would appreciate any direction before I cut an access panel or drop the tank. Thanks in advance!
